Alexa is a certified yoga instructor through Yoga Tree Studios. Her personal yoga mantra is “Ahimsa” or non-violence. She would like to bring this practice of non-violent yoga into the community noting that many of the issues seen on the mat are also treated on a daily basis by health care practitioners, like chiropractors and massage therapists.

After spending seven years working alongside such health care professionals Alexa envisions the art of non-violent yoga as a tool to bring relief to an over-worked, generally tense and totally stressed out community.
There is so much more to it than the physical appearance of the postures and she has always believed a holistic approach to the body is the best way to take care of our most precious gift. Yoga provides us with the body awareness to discover injury, or tension and helps the process of healing by preventing the injury from getting worse and providing space for the area also calming the mind and alleviating stress.
Currently working out of her own home studio as well as out of Downsview Chiropractic and Yoga Tree Studios, Alexa has a passion for people. Her style of teaching is individual and she is talented at reading a class or individual, noting tense areas of the body and targeting them specifically. Sequences are often created around a goal pose or have an end goal in mind, such as opening the lower back and hips or creating space in the shoulders. Often times our pain is caused by tightness and tension which eventually leads to pulling and discomfort. Using the philosophy of the Yoga Sutra’s Alexa has managed to weave together a practice that reunites the mind body and soul and can be performed at any level of fitness.
Public classes are only one way Alexa shares her talents with the community. She also conducts one-on-one coaching sessions as a Mind Body Coach in an effort to help people manage their daily lives individually. Seventy-five minute sessions include focused awareness, stress release, meditation and gentle stretching. Sometimes as we release emotional pain we see out physical pain dissipate as well and not always do we want to deal with these in public. Alexa has created a holistic path to better inner and outer health, through healthy eating, mediation and asana practice and she hopes to share this with the world.
