
All our bodies have their own rhythm. These rhythm’s are cyclical and seasonal. We all cycle differently and a large part of understanding how to be comfortable in your body is recognizing which stage of cycle your in. We can think of each energetic stage as seasons – witnessing a spring time energy in yourself is fantastic to cultivate creativity. Fall energy, time to let go, preparing to hibernate for winter. And summer energy is about play; learning yourself is a helpful way to ascertain which stage of energy you are in. It’s believed generally and with exception that men cycle over 24 hours and women over 30 days. When we learn about energetic cycles we are able to make better choices meeting our needs directly. The more we practice this active choice the easier the easier it gets. The more we trust our choices during times of stress.
During my moon time or winter energy I recognize the need to take rest, so that I am well prepared energetically to cultivate during my summertime or ovulation. Knowing this I can find ease in my decisions because I know they are best for me based on my needs now.
Yoga, meditation and reiki assist in the process of getting to know oneself because they encourage mindfulness and reflection. When we are willing to reflect on who we are we develop an intimate relationship with the self. This intimate relationship presupposes all other relationships because it is in knowing who we are that allows us to build healthy, balanced and boundaried relationships in work, play, love and family.
